Jaeger O'Meara has conceded the past week has been "bizarre".
Speaking from Coogee Beach in Sydney, O'Meara admitted recent days had had their challenges but he felt carefree in comparison to the dads across the playing group.
"It is a bit bizarre," O'Meara said.
"Last week was probably one of the most bizarre weeks of my footy journey.
"We didn't really know what was going on - one hour we were going to the Gold Coast, then the next hour we were going to Perth and then the next hour we were coming to Sydney.
"For me, I'm just at home by myself and I was getting stressed out so I was thinking of the guys with families and kids and wondered how stressed they must have been!"
But the Hawks vice-captain said the group has now settled in its new surrounds and was enjoying the sea change.
"Once we knew we were coming to Sydney, we were super excited.
"For me, I love the ocean so I checked the weather straight away and it's looking pretty sunny so I'm rapt to be here."
The Hawks' time away didn't start in ideal fashion though, with the side being defeated by GWS on Sunday night.
Clarko: Some promising signs despite the loss
Although the Giants ultimately prevailed by 34 points, O'Meara was keen to highlight the positives that came from the Round 5 loss, with the Hawks winning both the clearance and inside 50 counts.
"They're obviously a super-talented side all over the ground.
"I think we had a dip though and we were pretty good at stoppage, we just probably gave the ball back to them a fair bit.
"We probably didn't help our forwards with the delivery we gave them so we will have a look at that in this morning's review."
The Hawks can ill-afford to labour over the Giants loss for too long though, with a clash with Collingwood awaiting this Friday night.
