On what was a difficult night for the Hawks backline against Collingwood on Friday night, James Sicily could hold his head high.

As the Hawks defenders were peppered by 47 Collingwood forward 50 entries throughout the night, Sicily maintained his cool, notching up 28 possessions and a game-high 14 marks.

His influence was further evident in his ability to cut off multiple Magpie forward forays, recording eight intercept possessions - more than any other Hawk.

The defender's skill was also at a high level, with his 28 touches going at an efficiency of just shy of 90 per cent.

As the Hawks look ahead to Melbourne this weekend, Sicily will represent a vital cog in unlocking the Hawks ball movement as he looks to continue to provide potency with the ball in hand out of the back half.
