Hawthorn Football Club extends its condolences to the Tuck family on the passing of Shane Tuck, son of club Legend Michael Tuck, this morning.
A much-loved and respected son, husband, father, brother, teammate and friend, Shane will be greatly missed.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Shane,” said Hawthorn President Jeff Kennett.
“There are few words that we can express at this time, other than to convey our devout sadness and sympathy to the Tuck family.
“The Board of Directors, Past Players and Officials Association, management, staff and players of Hawthorn Football Club extend their sincerest condolences to Shane’s parents Michael and Fay, his wife Kat, children Will and Ava, and the extended Tuck family.”
Shane was drafted to Hawthorn in 2002 and later found his home at Richmond where he settled into a remarkably consistent career playing 104 consecutive AFL games between 2005-2009. By 2009 Shane had become one of the AFL’s premier midfielders and won Richmond’s best clubman award.
He finished in the top 10 of the club’s best and fairest seven times and rounded out his career with 173 AFL games when he retired in 2013.
The Tuck name is synonymous with Hawthorn and the family is part of the fabric of the club. The club will wrap its arms around the Tuck family to support them during this difficult time.
