The Hawks have readjusted the timeline of Cameron Bruce’s return, as bone bruising on the surface of the knee joint has disrupted his rehabilitation.

Xavier Ellis is currently undertaking a training block in order to overcome several slight injuries and build his fitness base back up. The training block, which is expected to take Ellis 2-3 weeks to complete, will have a greater impact in reducing the chance of Ellis suffering a re-occurring injury.

Ruckman Brent Renouf remains in hospital under observation following a heavy knock to his body in the final quarter of Saturday's match against Geelong.

Renouf was admitted to hospital to undergo a series of tests to his liver and other internal organs.

The Hawks ruckman has suffered internal bruising to his liver and is in a stable condition.

It is hoped Renouf will be discharged from hospital tomorrow, however, he will certainly miss this week's match against Gold Coast at Aurora Stadium.

The club’s medical staff will make further assessment throughout the week as to when he might return.

Teammate Brent Guerra has a perforated eardrum following an incident also in the final quarter of Saturday's loss to Geelong. Guerra has had issues with his balance and hearing since leaving the field of play but has improved significantly over last 24 hours and the club will monitor his progress closely in coming days.

Jarryd Roughead will undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair a ruptured achilles tendon which will sideline the Hawks' ruck/forward for the remainder of the season.
