The Grand Final City Hawks lunch was held on Wednesday 23 September with over 200 guests in attendance to witness the most colourful and controversial speaker yet.

Neville Bruns, former Geelong player joined the City Hawks to speak about the 1985 incident with Leigh Matthews for the first time ever in public. Host and President of the Hawthorn Football Club Jeff Kennett warmed the audience up, reading a passage from the Hawthorn's new history book One for All describing the incident and the feelings surrounding it. He then threw to the video footage which reported on the lead up to and the incident itself, in what was a concerning game of football for everyone involved.

Neville took to the lectern and kicked off his talk with a little gag by putting a helmet with face-guard on his head. He went on to speak about his career, how he got to where he did and of course the incident itself. Throughout his talk, the audience hung on every word as he described how the day went down and his thoughts on who was to blame and how it should have been prevented.

It was an interesting luncheon that gave supporters a different view on what took place at Princess Park. It also gave them the chance to ask Neville their own questions, and share their own point of view on the issue.

Congratulations to Andrew Nathan from Armaguard, Jamie Govenlock from Urbis, Tim Metcalfe from MRD Developments and Michael Hardman from Open Windows who were the lucky winners of the four fabulous business card draw prizes on the day.

The City Hawks Luncheons will continue in 2010, with dates to be announced soon. We hope to see you all there for some more entertaining interviews and chats with the leaders and stars of the football world.
