Round 20: VFL Preview
The Box Hill Hawks continue their assault on a top four position
Sunday 30 August
Box Hill City Oval at 2.00pm
The Box Hill Hawks continue their assault on a top four position in the final round of the home and away season against Casey Scorpions.
With finals around the corner, a win this weekend gives the Hawks an opportunity to take fourth place if Northern Bullants fall to Frankston Dolphins at Frankston Park.
Hawks coach Brendon Bolton is expecting a tough match once again.
“This week’s game will determine our ladder position for the season and after seeing an extremely spirited Casey defeat Williamstown on the weekend I have no doubt like our last encounter it will be a tough contest.”
“We head in to this game being able to freshen up with the bye and with 4 wins in succession we have plenty of momentum.”
Playing out the full four quarters is the key for the Hawks.
“This is the time of the year we need to make sure that our mindset is focused for four quarters on the “critical actions” we measure our games on.”
“There is no doubt that winning the “contested football” and our “defensive actions” are vital at the business end of the year.”
Box Hill will be wary of the Scorpions after beating Williamstown by 6 points at Casey Fields.
After only scoring four points in the 1st term, Casey put on the accelerator keeping Williamstown goalless in the 2nd.
Closing out the match, Casey’s greater accuracy kept the side in front pushing Williamstown to 2nd place after their loss with North Ballarat taking over the mantle with top-spot on the VFL Ladder.
Last time these two sides met, Box Hill in Round 6 2009 won by 15 points.
