Over 47 days Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson will share his thoughts on each player on the Hawthorn list - from guernsey number 48 to 2.

What Clarko says

40. Broc McCauley

Wearing the number 40 guernsey for Hawthorn in season 2012 is Broc McCauley.

Broc's a player that we recruited in the recent 2011 Rookie draft. He spent the previous season on the Brisbane Lions list. He plays most of his football as a big bollocking ruckman and at 25 years of age we feel that Broc's best footy is ahead of him.

Going into the draft period you will have noticed that we wanted to add some taller players to our list. We wished to ensure the necessary support for Max Bailey, David Hale, big Lukey Lowden and also Sam Grimley. So we picked up Adam Pattison and also Broc McCauley.

We liked what we saw in the couple of games Broc played for the Lions in 2011. We felt he had some improvement to add to his game and with a bit more progress with the Hawks over this summer, we believe he'll play some footy for us this season.

His best position to play is in the ruck and there's no doubt that he'll provide us with the depth we need in this position. It's a very important position on the ground and one that we've battled in depth for the last couple of seasons - either through injury or premature retirement. We're really excited about the ruck depth we've now established, one that will allow us to compete on the big stage in September 2012.

Tomorrow we've got another ruckman, a guy who's faced some adversity in his career thus far, Max Bailey. Season 2011 was a watershed year for Max where he was able to for the first time put together some back-to-back senior games for the Club. We're excited about his prospects.

So I hope you'll login once again as we continue our countdown. Thanks for reading, this is Alastair Clarkson, signing off.
