Hawthorn family reunites for 2007 seasonThe Hawthorn family reunited at Glenferrie Oval yesterday for its annual pre-season Family Day.

More than 5,000 fans from across the State joined the Hawks on what was a sensational autumn day in Melbourne.

The team played a big role during the days activities. Danny Jacobs, Luke Hodge, Shane Crawford and Tim Clarke attracted a large number of fans when they kicked off the first signing session of the afternoon, Jarryd Roughead excited the kids with his surprise talent of making snow cones and Robbie Campbell spent some time with the other live Hawks at the Community stand.

On the main stage, President Jeff Kennett thanked the crowd for their support before the 44 Hawks were introduced to their fans and presented with their 2007 jumper.

Today Mr Kennett said, “On behalf of the Board, I wish to thank (Events Manager) Tara Lude and her team for the wonderful conduct and result of yesterday’s Family Day at Glenferrie.”.

“It was a superb turnout, on a great day, with a great atmosphere obvious.“I also want to thank the coaching team and players, together with the volunteers, who were all present, and without whose contribution the day would not have been such a success..

“To have competed with so many other events, for so many to have been present all day, it was a wonderful outcome for the Family Club. Take a bow team.”.

Hawthorn’s next major function is The Main Event which officially opens the 2007 season this Friday night (23 March). The Main Event combines three events that were previously held separately — The Season Launch, Hall of Fame and Confreres Player Auction.
