HAWTHORN defender Brent Guerra will miss the next three matches after accepting the three-match ban handed down by the Match Review Panel on Monday.

Guerra collected Carlton forward Eddie Betts high as he attempted to gather the football on the boundary line in the opening quarter of Friday night's 50-point win over the Blues at the MCG.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points), equaling a total of six activation points, drawing 400 demerit points and a four-match sanction.

The charge was then reduced by 25 per cent with an early guilty plea, resulting in the defender having a break for the next three weeks.

Guerra will miss matches against Greater Western Sydney, Western Bulldogs and Collingwood before being available for selection for the Round 18 match against Essendon at Etihad Stadium.
