In his second year at the top level, Breust has made the small forward’s position his own, and has even ventured into the midfield at times to add to the Hawks’ midfield depth.
That hasn’t had an impact on his output in front of goal though, if anything, it has given him even more confidence that he can perform his role for the team.
So far this season, Breust has booted 38 goals from 19 matches, up from 30 goals last season. He’s averaging 15 disposals per game, up from 12 in his debut season.
He is capable of kicking multiple goals, including a season-high five goals against Collingwood in Round 17. Of his 19 matches this season, he has booted multiple goals in 13 of them.
His output on the field for Hawthorn has translated to excellent Dream Team form, with the small forward averaging 85.6 Dream Team points in his late five matches. Altough his season average is 76.7, his form in the last two months has been better than that.
Since the Round 14 match against Carlton (in which Breust scored 60 points), Breust has averaged 86 points per game. Since Round 15, Breust has scored a number of high scores including 107, 97, 93 and 91.
He has scored points lower than 80 on just three occasions.
Since the opening round of the season, Breust’s price has risen $45,800.
If you need a replacement forward for your preliminary final, he is a great option and one that could be unique to your side.
Round 22 spotlight
David Hale ($410,300) - Hale’s improvement in the Dream Team realm must challenge the great cash cows of the Michael Barlow era. Since taking over as the Hawks’ number one ruck, Hale has flourished and continues to do so. His price rose $30,900 after his 136 points against Gold Coast.
Brad Sewell ($390,600) - Sewell has been a consistent performer all season for the Hawks, and he is performing at the business end for Dream Teams. He scored 110 against Gold Coast, and with a tough, hard, contested game beckoning against Sydney, that suits the Hawks’ hard-man to a tee.
Xavier Ellis ($373,500) - Ellis is enjoying bing back in the Hawthorn side after overcoming injury, and he’s been scoring well for Dream Team coaches as well. So we’re all happy. In his two games he has scored 80 and 97 points to average 88.5. He’s one to keep in mind for next season.
