Over 47 days Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson will share his thoughts on each player on the Hawthorn list - from guernsey number 48 to 2.

What Clarko says

39. Max Bailey

Welcome back once again to hawthornfc.com.au, today's feature player is Hawks' number 39, Max Bailey.

Max was able to string together a series of games for the senior side in 2011. Finally we were all able to see some of the potential we knew that he had when we drafted him back at the end of the 2006 season.

We recruited Max from Western Australia and we always thought he was going to be an emerging ruckman in the competition. A series of knee injuries meant he was unable to get himself out on the park anywhere near enough to show his wares in his first four years at Hawthorn.

In 2011 you would have noticed the greater reliance we had on Max to carry our ruck division, we had absences through injury in Brent Renouf and also Jarryd Roughead. Going forward Max has the ruck support of David Hale, Sam Grimley, Luke Lowden plus rookie recruits Adam Pattison and Broc McCauley. We feel we finally have a ruck division that can give us some good supply to our in and under players like Sam Mitchell, Luke Hodge, Brad Sewell, Jordan Lewis and the like.

Season 2012 is going to be an important season for Max as he stabilises his position in the side. We're really excited about his prospects moving forward and as I mentioned earlier having the depth and talent in our ruck to make us a formidable opponent leading into September.

Tomorrow I'll feature Mitch Hallahan who has also dealt with injuries in the early part of his career.

Cheers for now, Alastair Clarkson.
