Three Hawthorn players have been selected in the annual Courier-Mail Queensland Team of the Year at a presentation evening at the Gabba.

Hawthorn forward Michael Osborne was one of nine players to be chosen in the Team of the Year each year since it was instituted in 2007, with defender Brendan Whitecross making his second appearance (2009-10) and ruckman Brent Renouf securing  spot on the interchange bench.

The selection caps off a particularly positive year for Whitecross, who played 16 games for the Hawks, booting nine goals and playing numerous standout matches in defence.

The Courier-Mail and QAFL joined forces to acknowledge the State’s best performed talents in the absence of State of Origin football.
