Over 47 days Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson will share his thoughts on each player on the Hawthorn list - from guernsey number 48 to 2.

What Clarko says

35. Sam Grimley

Today my summer series countdown reaches number 35, a player who's been on our list for the last two seasons - Sam Grimley.

We drafted big Grimmers from the Northern Knights (number 39 overall). Sam plays most of his football in the ruck although he's played some football at Box Hill up forward. What really interested us early about the way Sam went about his footy was he's athleticism - he's a very very mobile tall player who we see developing into a ruckman that can cover the ground and provide plenty of support for our midfield players.

In Sam's third year on our program we expect he will feature prominently for Box Hill - putting himself in a position at various stages through the year to make his debut for Hawthorn.

Sam's experiencing a lot of progress and improvement in his footy as he learns to become accustomed to the bigger bodies of the elite level. His weights program has been a big feature to his preseason to date. With a stronger body and greater muscle mass we're sure he will be able to compete more consistently in the ruck - becoming a prominent player for us in the years to come.

Player number 34 who I'll feature tomorrow, Jordan Kelly we picked up in the recent National Draft. I look forward to sharing my insights on Jordan.

Until then, bye for now.
