Over 47 days Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson will share his thoughts on each player on the Hawthorn list - from guernsey number 48 to 2.

What Clarko says

20. David Hale

Today our summer series features player number 20 in season 2012 which will be David Hale.

David came to our Club from the North Melbourne Football Club in a trade at the end of the 2010 season.

He became a pretty important player for us, particularly in the second part of the year with the injury of Jarryd Roughead taking a toll on our forward-line and ruck options.

'Haley's' recruitment was a godsend for our Club - his contested marking was outstanding in the second half of the year and he's obviously a great back-up in the ruck to Max Bailey.

He's emerged as an important part of our structure in our midfield and forward-half of our ground.

He's been playing AFL footy for quite some time, and he's now on the verge of playing his 150th game.

We've always been impressed with the way he goes about his football, and when he wasn't getting the opportunities he deserved at the Kangaroos we thought there was a definite role he could play at our Club.

We've been very happy with his performance to-date, and with a season under his belt he knows our structures and we think he'll be a very influential player in the years ahead.

Tomorrow we look forward to featuring a new player to our Club in Jack Gunston who we negotiated through a trade with the Adelaide Crows - we see a very bright future for this young player.
