Over 47 days Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson will share his thoughts on each player on the Hawthorn list - from guernsey number 48 to 2.

What Clarko says

17. Cameron Bruce

Welcome once again to all Hawks supporters who have logged on to hawthornfc.com.au for our summer series analysing our playing list for 2012.

Today we feature Cameron Bruce who we recruited from the Melbourne Football Club at the end of the 2010 season in the pre-season draft.

'Brucey' is a guy that I've known for a long time, and he's one of the best blokes in footy.

At the time we picked him up, we thought he could offer us the best both on and off the field, however it's fair to say we didn't see the best from 'Brucey' last year after he succumbed to a pretty serious knee injury in the early part of the season which carried on through the rest of 2011.

He did come back and play in our last game against the Gold Coast, but he just didn't have the fitness and contribution we know he's capable of making.

We know he can play in many different positions and if you can recall when we recruited 'Brucey' we had some departures from the likes of Trent Croad, Campbell Brown and Stuart Dew.

We really feel that 'Brucey' brings experience and talent and he was too good a player to not pick up and play on for a few more seasons.

We're hopeful that he can continue to make a contribution - most of which has been made off-field - where he's had an enormous impact in terms of his leadership and influence over the young guys.

We hope he's able to star on the park more this season and lead on-field too.

Tomorrow we'll feature a player in Isaac Smith who will wear the number 16 guernsey. Himself along with Paul Puopolo made an immediate impact in their first year and we hope he can continue to make sound progress in 2012.
