Kanga's Roast was held at Leonda by the Yarra on Friday 24 August 2012.

270 people were on hand to listen to a carefully selected list of Hawthorn Football Club greats retell their best (and worst) memories of the one and only John Kennedy Snr.

Media Personality John Silvester hosted three different panels, consisting of Graham Arthur, Don Scott, Ian Bremner, Kelvin Moore, Michael Porter, Peter Hudson, Leigh Matthews and David Parkin.

Guests were entertained by stories throughout the day, and were given an insight into a side of John that they may not previously have known, while enjoying a delicious two course meal and beverages.

The Past Players Association also announced their newly set up ‘HFC PP&O Welfare Fund’ on the day which will aim to assist past players or officials in genuine need. This may not always be in the form of financial assistance, but also on a broader spectrum of support mechanism to help in whatever area is deemed necessary in the best interest of the member.
