42. Angus Litherland

My summer series countdown continues today with number 42 for the Hawks, Angus Litherland.

We recruited Angus from Western Australia in the 2010 National Draft. In his first full year on our list Angus has played in the back-end for the Box Hill Hawks. You may also recall he played some NAB Cup footy over at home in the West, playing against West Coast and Fremantle. He acquitted himself really well on that occasion.

He's a player that we were attracted to early on when we saw him playing down back in the WAFL, we loved his ability to negate an opponent and also his rebound. He has terrific athleticism and speed and we see him as a guy who will continue to develop into the mold of a Ben Stratton / Stephen Gilham type player.

Unfortunately his Box Hill season was cut short with a foot injury that ruined the last part of his season, dampening what was looking to be a very successful debut season for him.

Over this summer he needs to continue to bulk up. He's a great competitor and with his speed he'll become a pretty potent weapon when rebounding from the Hawks back half, hopefully once again he will play some NAB Cup games for us and we'll be looking for Angus to feature in the Hawthorn team at some point in season 2012.

His attitude to his pre-season has been first class so we're looking forward to seeing the results of that development.

So look out for the number 42 in 2012, Angus Litherland. Tomorrow we'll look at number 41 Taylor Duryea who similar to Angus had some injury troubles towards the end of his 2011 season.

Thanks again guys for your interest in our 2012 season.
