Blustery conditions met the 2012 Corporate Golf Day at Sandhurst Club on Thursday 2 February. Hawthorn players met with corporate guests to test their skills on the fairways of the Champions Course designed by Peter Thompson.

Over 90 competitors took part in the Ambrose competition, including past and present Hawthorn players and coaches. Competitors took part in several on-course challenges including "Snake Putt" and "Longest Drive".

The "Drive a Goal" challenge was the standout, with Jarryd Roughead leading his team, "Wattle Glen Homes" to victory after driving three nine point goals for a team total of 27 points from the black tee.

The "Snake Putt" was over early after Greg Bertram from HSBC Bank Australia sank a 30 metre putt in just one attempt.  The two "Nearest the Pin" competitions were taken out by Peter Stewart from Wattle Glen Homes and Brad Kealy from The Mirvac Group.

"Longest Drive" went to Warwick Brown from Mercedes Benz - Melbourne after with a whopping 285m drive on a 478m hole.

Ninth Island and Cobra PUMA Golf were also on-course to provide some refreshments and activities between competitions. Cobra gave competitors the opportunity to try out their great range of clubs on the "Longest Drive" hole. Mercedes Benz - Melbourne also kindly supplied a brand new C-Class Saloon C-63 AMG for everyone to admire while enjoying the day's activities.

Runners up on the day were none other than the Hawthorn Board representative team consisting of Richard Garvey and Martin Ralston, Confrere Ron Wadey and High Performance Coach David Rath. On a score of 57.5 they were pipped at the post by the winning team, "The House of Golf" with David Hale with a score of 57.375.

Prizes were kindly donated by The House of Golf, HSBC Bank Australia, Mercedes Benz - Melbourne, Ninth Island and Sandhurst Club.

It was a great day for all involved, and provided some great highlights. We are now looking forward to the 2013 Corporate Golf Day.
