Being at last year’s G/F was an obvious highlight but two other events in recent years are standout memories for me.

The last game at Waverley was an outstanding day, Jason Dunstall's last game, a big crowd and Hawthorn kicking goal after goal to rack up a great win. But my outstanding memory of the day was of Ian Dicker coming up into the stands with the real fans to thank them for their support. From memory Ian spent much of the 2nd half shaking hands with the fans and singing the Hawthorn theme song with us. We should all acknowledge a great debt to Ian, without his leadership and support I believe Hawthorn would not be power both on and off the field we are today.

My other highlight was the concluding couple of minutes of the Hawthorn Adelaide Elimination Final in 2007. Hawthorn were behind most of the day but just hung in there enough to stay in touch. Then Buddy made that spectacular grab on the wing right on the final whistle. We were sitting right behind Buddy so could see it was going to sail through. I have never heard a roar from a Hawthorn crowd like it..
