ANGUS Litherland is among a promising group of Hawthorn youngsters to re-sign with the Club on Tuesday.

A rebounding defender, Litherland has impressed the Hawks’ coaching staff in his two seasons at the Club with his ferocious attack on the ball.

General Manager - Football Operations, Mark Evans says the youngster has improved his game under the tutelage of the Hawks’ coaching staff.

“He’s been in the system now for two years and has developed a lot more strength in the way he plays his game,” he said.

“He’s still progressing in the system and if he can have a good summer and play consistent footy at VFL level then his next step would be to push into the AFL team.”

Evans believes his form in the NAB Cup in his first season at the Club showed his maturity and ability to slot into the senior side whenever the opportunity presents.
“His strengths as player is that he’s quite competitive, he said.

“When he played in the NAB Cup in his first year he showed it didn’t phase him to be playing at the level at all.

“He just went out there and played his defensive role. He’ll just be looking for an opportunity to kick-start his AFL games tally and go from there.”
