The Hawthorn Football Club and the wider Hawthorn community was saddened by the news over the weekend that former player Peter Welsh lost his long battle with cancer.
The Hawks wore black arm bands in Peter's honour on Saturday night against St. Kilda.'Woosha' as he was affectionately known, started his VFL career with Hawthorn in 1973 and played 79 senior games between 1973-78, including an appearance in the 1975 Grand Final.
Welsh moved to Richmond in 1980 where he played a further 46 senior games and was part of the Tigers 1980 premiership side.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Peter James Welsh will be held at the Brighton Savoy, 150 The Esplanade, Brighton on Thursday 24 July, commencing at 1pm.
