Alastair Clarkson has been in contact with MCC CEO Stephen Gough in regards to the damage done to a wall in the coaches’ box at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

Alastair contacted Stephen on Sunday to offer to make repairs to the wall himself, and was advised he was unable to do so because of contracting restrictions and OH&S issues at the stadium.

As such, Alastair will personally cover the cost of the repair.

Alastair also confirms he was asked to leave the field during a junior football match on Sunday in which he was acting as runner.

Alastair was attempting to reorganise the players when both teams began to kick to the same end, and repeatedly tried to explain the situation to an off-field League official when he was instructed to leave the ground.

“During the conversation with the League official, I used a couple of expletives and I apologise to the official for the language used,” Clarkson said.

“I was only trying to reorganise the players into their correct positions and certainly didn’t intend for this to become an issue for the official, the League, or the two teams,” he said.

Alastair will cooperate fully with and accept the determination of the SMJFL inquiry.
