As per the designated deadline, nominations closed yesterday (Tuesday 25 October) at 5pm for Hawthorn Football Club president.

The Club can confirm it has received two nominations for the vacancy that will be left by outgoing President Jeff Kennett.

The two candidates are current Vice-president Andrew Newbold and former President Geoff Lord.

In accordance with its constitution, Hawthorn Football Club will conduct an election for the vacancy at its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 14 December.

In August, the Hawthorn Board recommended Newbold to members as Kennett’s successor. However, as was noted at the time, Newbold’s appointment would be subject to a members’ vote finalised at Hawthorn’s AGM.

In addition, unopposed nominations received from current Directors Martin Ralston and Professor Andrew Kaye will result in their appointment being ratified for a further three year term at December’s AGM.
