THE RIOLI name is synonymous with exciting football talent.

From Maurice in the 1980s with Richmond, to Dean in 100 games for Essendon to the modern-day highlight reel that is Cyril, the Rioli family has football in their blood.

And the talent doesn’t stop with the men in the family as Cyril’s little sister Kahlisha has made her own name as a talented young footballer in Darwin.

Kahlisha, 17, is taking part in the Women’s AFL National Championships after already playing in two premierships with Darwin side St Mary’s.

She was selected most promising junior in the 2007/2008 season and followed that up the next season being awarded the most courageous player for the year.

The Hawthorn premiership star said he was proud to see his little sister carve out her own football career but says any skill she has developed didn’t come from backyard games between the siblings.

“We didn’t really kick the ball together, we were probably fighting most of the time. She’s a good sister and I wouldn’t want another one. I’m happy to see her playing a bit of footy,” Cyril said.

Cyril said his little sister showed plenty of promise and exhibited plenty of the traits that the football world has come to expect from the family.

“I’ve only watched a few of her games. She plays in the midfield and she’s a real in and under type player. She can also get a bit angry,” he said.

“I reckon it’s pretty good to see the girls play. Girls footy is getting pretty big up in Darwin now.”
