HAWTHORN has appointed Collingwood 1990 premiership player Graham Wright as its new recruiting and list manager, replacing the recently departed Chris Pelchen.

Wright has been with the club in a recruiting role since 2007, having previously spent three years with the Brisbane Lions.

Hawks football operations general manager Mark Evans said Wright's promotion was well deserved.

"He is highly regarded by his industry peers, and in his time at Hawthorn has proved to have a strong understanding on where the game is heading and has consistently impressed with pragmatic philosophies on list management, recruiting and talent identification," Evans said.

Hawthorn announced Pelchen's sudden resignation on June 3, with no reason given for his departure.
