On the final day of hawthornfc.com.au's mid-season Dream Team review, we look at how the forwards have performed for coaches.

Forwards

Lance Franklin ($542,500), average 107.4: He’s the top priced Hawks player for a reason, Franklin holds the highest score in Dream Team history after his 204 point effort against the Kangaroos. He has scores the most points of any Hawks player in 2012, and despite his price tag, if you haven’t got him, get him at all costs! High scores in 2012 - 204, 130, 122.

Jarryd Roughead ($409,300), average 89.8: It has been a remarkable comeback by Roughead after the Achilles injury that ended his 2011 season. He has shown no signs of that injury and has been a valuable contributor for coaches’ forward or ruck departments. He’s mobile and getting plenty of the ball. Can be selected as a ruck or forward. High scores in 2012 - 111, 110, 100.

Brendan Whitecross ($399,500), average 90.1: Whitecross has emerged as one of the best mid-priced to premium options this year, after spending more time in the midfield for the Hawks. He tackles, gets plenty of the footy and kicks goal, what more could you want? His price has jumped $21,700 this season and despite missing the Hawks match against the Lions, he’ll be back sooner rather than later. High scores in 2012 - 122, 118, 101.

Cyril Rioli ($375,600), average 79.3: After a sluggish Dream Team start, Rioli has lifted his average in the past three weeks to 91.7 and his overall average by seven points since Round 7. His average in that time went from 77 points to the current 79 and looks to be on the rise. His pressure in the forward line has propelled his scores. High scores in 2012 - 113, 98, 95.

Luke Breust ($346,600), average 72.3: The Hawks cult figure has heightened his Dream Team reputation this season after almost cracking the ton on two occasions (Rounds 3 and 8). He is getting more of the ball - including grabbing a career-high 24 disposals against Fremantle in Round 8. Could be an option if you’re light on cash. High scores in 2012 - 72 on three occasions.

Michael Osborne ($247,600), average 50.3: Unfortunately for Osborne, he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in Round 7 and will miss the remainder of the season. High scores in 2012 - 75, 71, 54.

Jack Gunston ($241,300), average 46.2:
Since return to the Hawks line-up in Round 11, Gunston has been impressive, booting three goals in his return match against the Power. If he can cement his place and continue to adjust to the Hawks’ game style in his first season, he could be a good downgrade option later in the year. Watch this space. High scores in 2012 - 75, 61, 44.
