Over 47 days Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson will share his thoughts on each player on the Hawthorn list - from guernsey number 48 to 2.

What Clarko says

33. Cyril Rioli

There’s hardly a person in the country who doesn’t get excited watching this young lad play.

Whether it’s a Hawthorn supporter or just a general football follower, Cyril Rioli has excited football followers around the country for the best part of four years now, and we’re very fortunate to have him at the Hawthorn footy Club.

One of the things that has always impressed us about Cyril is his great agility and his leg speed - it enables him to do some pretty special things on the ground.

He was a premiership player in his first year which was a fairytale start to his career, but having said that, we’re still expecting great things from Cyril - I think that his best football is still ahead of him.

Just where we’ll play Cyril is yet to be determined for season 2012.

He’s got so much talent that he can play in the midfield, forward, or indeed in the back-end, but we’ll ascertain that as we prepare for the pre-season cup and the season proper which will commence with Round 1 v Collingwood.

Cyril’s pre-season to-date has been first class; it’s probably been his most solid pre-season he has put in for the Club. His body has been able to handle larger volumes of work and we’ve been really excited with what he’s been able to produce over the summer months.

He’s looking strong, agile, and fit, and with that continuity week-to-week in his training we have high expectations from Cyril, who along with our other players continues to draw fans through the gates to watch the Hawks play.

More importantly, Cyril is a key in us being able to jump up a few spots on the ladder which is an ambition we have for season 2012.

I’m sure he’ll excite many supporters in the upcoming year.

Tomorrow we look at the player who wears guernsey number 32 (strangely enough the same guernsey number as his brother who will play for the Fremantle Dockers, Stephen Hill) - Bradley Hill.

This young man will be a player of the future, I’m sure.

Thanks to those who have taken the time to leave their thoughts on our playing list alongside mine - some great insights and observations have come from your posts, so make sure you read the comments below.
