Hawthorn Football Club’s Indigenous ambassador Shaun Burgoyne recently flew into Launceston for a day full of celebrations as part of the upcoming Northern Tasmania Football Association’s Indigenous game between Rocherlea and Georgetown.

Shaun chatted to children from various schools across the North and North West of Tasmania at a forum at St Patrick’s College with a mix of 200 primary and secondary students.

Shaun was welcomed and presented with a handmade gift by a young local indigenous student before making his way to the oval to give some goal kicking tips.

Lunch time saw Shaun speaking to kids from Kings Meadows High School in their ITAS (Indigenous Tasmanians) group, and encouraged the kids to be proud of their heritage and to look into their family history as much as possible.

The afternoon saw 200 children from primary schools surrounding Launceston visit Aurora Stadium for the celebration clinic promoting the NTFA’s indigenous round.

Shaun, Hawka and ex-Adelaide and Geelong player Ronnie Burns took to the field with the kids for some skills and drills before signing autographs to wrap up their flying visit.
