Day 7

Friday 11 December
Ofi Creek to Uberi, 10km

Today the group climbed Ioribaiwa Ridge and trekked down to Ua Ule Creek. They endured long periods of hiking and encountered some tough hills, but their support and encouragement of each other has got them through the second-last day of their challenging journey.

As the group descended into camp at Uberi they followed the remains of the ‘Golden Staircase’ constructed by Australian diggers.

The stairs marked the beginning of the steepest part of the track and gave the soldiers an indication of the amount of physical hardship they were about to endure.

The players and the travel party will sleep well tonight knowing they only have three hours of hiking left before they reach the end of the Track at Owers Corner.
