Hawthorn Football Club extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of former Hawthorn player Phil O’Brien, who passed away earlier this week, aged 89.
O’Brien played 86 games for the Hawks between 1951 and 1958, booting 71 goals.
He also played a pivotal role in Hawthorn’s inaugural premiership in 1961, serving as assistant coach to John Kennedy Snr.
In 1962, he was recognised as a Life Member of the Hawthorn Football Club, for his fantastic contribution to the brown and gold.
Vale Phil O’Brien.
