Hawthorn has made two late changes ahead of this afternoon’s clash with the Bulldogs, with James Frawley (back soreness) and Tom Scully (illness) both ruled out.
“Chip presented with back soreness during the week and unfortunately it hasn’t settled down in time,” GM-Football Graham Wright said.
“We’ll take a cautious approach and give him a rest this week.
“Tom is under the weather so he won’t play either. It’s nothing serious, but given the current climate, anyone with even the mildest of symptoms needs to remain isolated.
“The good news is that it gives another opportunity to Poppy, who has been the ultimate professional and a great leader for the younger guys while playing in the scratch matches.
“Dan Howe had played four games in a really condensed period after returning from a foot injury so we felt he could do with a rest.
“But he’s fit and available to go, so we’re confident he’ll come in and play his role.”
