Hawthorn Football Club and BankVic are passionate about recognising the ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their communities. BankVic is the bank for Police, Health and Emergency Services, and will present a champion from the Emergency Services sector to be celebrated each week, with their stories to be shared via hawthornfc.com.au.
In the spotlight this week is…
Mary Grant
Mary has been a Volunteer Community Chaplain for 9 years, she completed her training in 2011 and has been a valuable volunteer since then especially during the recent fire season.
During the January bushfires this year, Mary went above and beyond to support her local community by working in the Emergency Relief Centre in Tallangatta over many consecutive days. Due to limited access to the area, other volunteers were not able to relieve her, so Mary stepped up to continue to serve as both the volunteer Chaplain and a valuable member of the community.
Chief Operations Officer Edmund Murphy – who completed the nomination – says “Mary is a very humble and compassionate person who feels strongly about serving her community.”
Thanks for all that you do, Mary.
