The return of Tom
After spending the entirety of the 2019 season on the sidelines, Tom Mitchell made his much-anticipated return to the field against the Lions. The 2018 Brownlow Medallist didn’t take long to rediscover his typical ball-getting ways, collecting a team-high 25 touches.
Speedy Smith
Isaac Smith was unstoppable against the Tigers, especially in the opening half where he helped the Hawks put a gap on their opposition. He had a number of good moments throughout the night, but this goal was indisputably the cream of the crop.

It's impossible not to love Jarman Impey. His dash out of the backline, his courageous style of play and his infectious grin have captured the hearts of the brown and gold faithful. It has been a difficult 12 months for the Hawks' number four, but on Friday night it was as though those 12 months had never happened; Jarman was back bringing as much excitement as ever, and this goal (along with the celebrations that followed) was the icing on the cake.
"The perfect way to finish for one of the all-time greats"
As exciting as it was to see Poppy kick his goal, the reality is he has spent a career kicking goals, 185 to be exact! Whereas his fellow retiree Ben Stratton hadn't had the same level of prevalence around the big sticks - kicking just one goal in his career prior to Sunday. But, as the Hawks held a comfortable lead midway through the final term, Clarko shifted his reliable defender to that foreign other end of the ground and, as they say, the rest is history...
