HAWTHORN has unveiled Richmond Assistant Coach Craig McRae as the latest addition to its coaching panel for 2021.
McRae, a triple premiership player at Brisbane, joins the Hawks as an Assistant Coach having spent the last 5 years in the black and yellow.
Throughout his coaching career McRae has worked at Brisbane, Collingwood and most recently the Tigers where he was awarded the AFLCA Assistant Coach of the Year and VFL Coach of the Year in 2019 after leading the VFL side to a premiership.
Chief of Football Graham Wright said McRae is a fantastic acquisition for the Hawks coaching team.
“Craig has a wealth of coaching experience, including leading his own program through his time as Senior Coach of Richmond’s VFL team,” Wright said.
“He is highly skilled in developing talent and helping players improve their craft having worked as a development coach at Richmond, Collingwood and Brisbane.
“We are rapt to have someone of Craig’s experience join the fold and feel he can play a real role in helping us improve both on and off the field.
“Craig is not only a good coach, he is a great character and we are looking forward to having him join the Hawthorn family.”
McRae will officially join the Hawks in November after his 2020 commitments with Richmond have concluded.
