Home is where the heart is for Hartigan

Harry Jones’ third year on Hawthorn’s list finally saw the young midfielder achieve his goal of breaking into the senior side.

Jones made his debut against GWS in Round 5 in the club’s first game of its hub experience.

The 21-year-old made a good fist of his first chance at AFL level, finishing with 11 disposals, four tackles and three clearances.

But sadly it wasn’t enough in the eyes of the match committee, who left him out of the side the following week.

The midfielder toiled away in the reserves side for the next month and a half before sustaining an MCL injury in a scrimmage game which cut his campaign short.

It was a disappointing end to Jones’ season after he had continually shown strong progression in his development as an on-baller.
