Trade rumour mill: Hawks interest in Phillips
Only Tom Mitchell averaged more disposals and contested possessions for the Hawks than Jaeger O’Meara did in 2020.
O’Meara proved the side’s number one clearance player this year, with his 4.7 clearances per game going unmatched across the brown and gold cohort.
His tackle numbers also saw him rank amongst the top four Hawks in that area.
But, while his numbers were strong on-field, the 26-year-old suffered some rotten luck when he broke his hand during the side’s Round 12 loss to West Coast.
The injury saw the club’s vice-captain miss the next four games, only returning for the final fortnight of the season.
As one of the club’s premier players, O’Meara represents a key piece in the club’s pursuit for improvement in 2021.
