Tom Mitchell looks set to be out on the park this Saturday, with the Brownlow Medallist having successfully completed his rehab from an off-season shoulder reconstruction.
According to Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd,
“Tommy’s had a really good block of training since we returned in January,” Boyd said.
“Although not in the skills program, he’s been running and getting some really good conditioning work in.
“Over the past five weeks he’s been able to train football, and over the past three weeks he’s been adding in contact.
“He full trained last week, and got through that really well, so Tom will be available to play.
“It’s exciting to have one of our leaders back out there for Round 1.”

Jack Scrimshaw will also be putting his hand up for selection, having made a rapid recovery from a jarred knee sustained in Hawthorn’s intraclub match.
“The last two weeks have been really positive (for Jack),” said Boyd.
“He full trained last week, has done the same this week, and he’ll be available to play.”
Chad Wingard won’t take part in the season opener, with the forward/mid expected to miss a further fortnight of football as he recovers from a calf issue.
