Only, this game didn’t play out exactly like that.
Yes – the Hawks defeated reigning premiers Richmond. Yes – the margin was an impressive 32 points. But after the siren sounded, the only voice that could be heard was that of Hawks emergency Michael Hartley, as he cheered his teammates off the ground.
Such was the nature of winning game of footballs during the height of the pandemic.
