Exciting tall forward Emerson Jeka will make his debut on the AFL stage this Saturday.
The second-year Hawk earns his call up off the back of a string off blistering performances for Box Hill, amassing 19 goals from his last four outings.
Taken with Pick 9 in the 2019 Rookie Draft, Jeka spent his first year on Hawthorn’s list honing his craft via the club’s reserve scratch matches.
His development in 2021 has been rapid, quickly becoming one of the most in-form players in the VFL competition.
100 per cent of the time, it's worked the last 77 times. We've found the Hawks' winning formula!
Despite his form, Jeka says he was shocked – and of course thrilled – to receive the news.
“I’m very excited, and a bit shocked in a way, I had no clue,” he said.
“We went into the theatre with all the boys and he showed us the squad and my name was there.
“All the boys came to me and started celebrating.
“I’m just really looking forward to getting an opportunity on Saturday, I’m rapt.”
Boasting strong skills by foot, impressive aerial presence and explosive power, Hawthorn fans are sure to be buoyed by the promise of this six foot five 19-year-old Hawk.
The Hawks will take on St Kilda at 4.35pm this Saturday, as the two sides contest the 22nd annual Blue Ribbon Cup.
