We asked you to tell us your best Burgoyne memory... and we've been overwhelmed with the level of responses.
Sadly, there could only be five winners but here are some our favourite submissions.
Clarko: "It's a remarkable achievement"
Burgoyne, to put them in front...he doesn't miss. What a memory. I was fortunate to be there.

The thing about Silk is his inclusivity. From the interviews and stories about him, one thing that comes through is just how much he gives a damn about each and every person around him. He is not only a role model, he is the kind of bloke that comes around once a generation to give people something to aspire to. It’s also nice that he is older than me. The only AFL player that is. Makes me not feel old yet. That is Silks greatest achievement.

I know it's a moment already captured in history & will be mentioned here time & time again, BUT, the Burgoyne goal that sealed our spot in the 2013 GF, was icing on the cake of the sweetest victory of all time. I'll never forget the 1989 GF, against those head hunting Cats, or having to endure loss after loss through the Kennett curse years. Burgoyne's amazing goal & passionate celebration, culminated in a victory filled with tears of joy & the loudest MCG crowd that I've ever heard. Stunning

It was a game against the Swans at the SCG. Hawks were six goals down early and my mate and I were copping it from the Swans crowd. Hawks slowly fought back until there were some lead changes through the last quarter. The crowd was really going off. Very late in the game he marked about 40m out near the boundary in front of us, and calmly went back and slotted the goal! Hawks win by a few points.

The joy the jump and the fist pumps at the final siren when we beat the Swans in 2014 GF… just beats his goal against cats in 2013 Prelim
- Toby Owen
Not just one memory but lots every time we were in trouble silk would be the man to win us a clearance or kick us a goal as in the 2013 preliminary final he is the ultimate team player A true hawthorn legend
- Robin Berry
In 2010 when Silk first came to Hawthorn, we were lucky enough to gain change room entry. My son then 10 asked him for an autograph, before he had even played a game. My now 21 year old, still comments on how lovely he was to him.

Best Burgoyne memory are his goals at the 2014 Grand final. He’s had longevity & can play anywhere on the ground!
- Philippa Sheppet
In hindsight, most memorable moment would be Silk getting traded to the Hawks in 2009. People initially questioned his durability and thought his knee was cooked… Fast forward 10+ years and he’s 3x premiership winner, 400 game player, life member and an amazing role model to 1000s of young aussie kids. #9 ‘that’s what I’m talking about…’

I love how he takes every opportunity to score a goal and doesn’t second guess. He moves on the field smoothly and knows how to execute well.
