After being sidelined by injury for most of the season, Richardson made her debut for Hawthorn in Round 6, Season 7 and made an immediate impact in defence. She averaged 8.6 disposals and 2.8 tackles from her five appearances. She went on to play every game in 2023 with amazing results, finishing second in Hawthorn’s best and fairest count and being nominated for the AFLPA’s MVP award. Prior to playing AFLW with the Hawks, the 21-year-old was one of the club’s most consistent VFLW defenders. In just her second season in the brown and gold, the 20-year-old averaged 12.5 disposals, 3.9 marks and 2.7 tackles from 10 games, winning herself a spot in the Team of the Year.
