McDonagh came across to the Hawks from Ireland, where she represented Galway in gaelic football and the NUIG Mystics in basketball. In her first AFLW season, the 25-year-old played seven games and kicked four goals. She won Hawthorn’s Most Improved Player award in 2023 off the back of a remarkable season in the forward line, becoming the club’s all-time leading goalkicker with 10 goals in her 10 games. She is the fourth Irish player currently at the club, joining Aileen Gilroy as well as Conor Nash and Fionn O’Hara in the men’s program.
