It was a high-pressure game for the VFLW Hawks on Saturday, coming away with a win by eight points against Collingwood.

An all-around great team game this week, plenty of backline pressure ensured Hawthorn stayed in front from start to finish.

After back-to-back wins, senior coach Cherie O’Neill celebrated a really good day of footy, and looks forward to the rounds ahead. It has been a great start to the season for the Hawks, which bodes well for more success towards the tail-end of the year.

Here’s her picks for the best-on-ground against the Pies.

 Aimee Whelan

“Another good solid game in the centre, she had a great game last week, and backed it up again this week.”

Jenna Richardson

“Very solid down back, kept her player very quiet and accountable, so she played her role extremely well.”

Kristen Hay

“Another one off the half back flank, really good accountable footy, gave us some good run off there.”

Tamara Luke

“Good captain's game, really solid through the ruck and midfield, just really good leadership out there today.”

Jordan Mifsud

“She did really well through the centre, gave us a lot of those small one percenters, lots of blocks and really hard footy.”
