Following a strong win against Port Adelaide, Hawthorn will be looking to make it three victories from three games when they take on Carlton at the MCG on Sunday.

The Hawks and Blues enter the highly anticipated encounter with unblemished records after winning both games to start the season under new coaches.

In good news for Hawks fans, Will Day will make his return to the senior side for the first time since injuring his ankle in Round 15 last year.

Prior to his injury, Day was one of the Hawks most promising youngsters, having been awarded the club’s Best First Year Player in 2020.

Star Chad Wingard will also play in Sunday's game after recovering from some hamstring tightness following the win against Port Adelaide.

Meanwhile, Hawthorn will be without captain Ben McEvoy after he suffered a small fracture in his neck this week at training.

Last time we met

Carlton (86) defeated Hawthorn (63) - Round 10, 2021

Hawthorn took on Carlton in a sun-soaked MCG, with the game starting in a tussle as Eddie Betts kicked the first goal of the game to help the Blues take an early lead.

The Hawks stormed back to trail by just three points at half time, but unfortunately, the Blues regained control and won the match by 23 points.

Despite the loss, Tom Mitchell produced a prolific 44-disposal performance, while James Worpel, Jack Scrimshaw, Chad Wingard, Luke Breust and Kyle Hartigan were all named among the best on the day.

Our last game

Hawthorn (120) defeated Port Adelaide (56)

Hawthorn stunned the Power with an enormous 64-point win in their hometown last Saturday.

The Hawks young guns took early control over the game, with both Josh Ward and Connor Macdonald booting their first ever AFL goals.

Mitch Lewis played one of the best games of his career, finishing with five goals, and was well backed up by veteran forwards Jack Gunston and Luke Breust who each kicked three goals.
