Hawthorn youngster Will Day is set to make his highly anticipated return on Sunday against Carlton at the MCG.
The 20-year-old faced a difficult season last year, managing just five games between two ankle injuries, the second of which ended his campaign in Round 15.
McEvoy sidelined with neck injury
He has played in Box Hill's two most recent matches, impressing off half-back while also showing his attacking side up forward.
Day has been named in the Round 3 team as well as Chad Wingard after he passed a fitness test on Thursday following some hamstring tightness.
Hawthorn Head of Football Rob McCartney said Day was a welcome addition to the side.
“After two games with Box Hill, Will is ready to make his return to AFL football," McCartney said.
“Will has shown that he is a player of the future in his limited AFL exposure, and I like our members and fans, will be thrilled to see him on the MCG again.”
Meanwhile, Captain Ben McEvoy will be missing in the clash after sustaining a neck injury at Thursday's training session.
Jaeger O’Meara will act as captain for this weekend's game against Carlton at the MCG on Sunday at 1.10pm.
