Debutant Jackson Callow highlights three additions for Hawthorn as it prepares to take on reigning premier Melbourne at the MCG this Saturday.

Rising defender Lachlan Bramble will also pull on the brown and gold for the first time this year, while experienced forward Liam Shiels make his return to the senior side.

The 195cm Callow plays his first game for the Hawks, after joining the club with pick 17 in the mid-season draft.

The strong-bodied forward left his family in Tasmania to play in the SANFL last year, after being overlooked in the national draft.

Callow is the third Hawk to make his debut in Sam Mitchell’s side this year.

Head of Football Rob McCartney said he was pleased with the balance of the team selected.

“It’s fantastic to celebrate another debutant for our club, while welcoming back a good blend of youth and experience in Lachlan and Liam,” McCartney said.

“We look forward to challenging ourselves against the benchmark of the competition in Melbourne, who remain undefeated.

“Saturday’s match-up shapes as an exciting contest as James Sicily notches up 100 games, while also taking over as stand-in captain for the next month.”

Josh Ward and Denver Grainger-Barras are among three outs for Hawthorn, with the young duo managed following a five-day break.

Finn Maginness (omitted) has been named as an emergency, alongside Daniel Howe, Grainger-Barras and Ned Long.

The Hawks will look to square the ledger against the Demons, after the two sides played out a thrilling draw the last time they met in Round 18 2021.
