Jai Newcombe is in contention to feature in this year's AFL Players' Association 22Under22 side after being named in the 40-man squad.
The fan-voted concept recognises the league’s best young players aged 22 and under who have made an impact on their club and the competition.
Newcombe's inclusion to the extended squad comes off the back of a break-out season where he has established himself as a key figure in the Hawks midfield.
Across his 20 outings this year, the 21-year-old has averaged 22.6 disposals, 4.5 tackles and 4.4 marks per game.
He ranks in the top 40 in the competition for total tackles (32nd) as well as inside 50s (26th).
One of his strongest performances came in Round 5 against Geelong where he collected a career-high 31 disposals, alongside a team-high six score involvements.
For a player to be eligible to be selected in the squad they must have played a minimum of 11 games throughout the 2022 season, with players also rewarded for their consistency across the season.
Voting is open HERE from August 10 to August 17.
The final team will be announced on August 23.
