The worst injury fears have been confirmed for Hawthorn leadership group members Tamara Luke and Louise Stephenson.
Scans confirmed that Luke has ruptured her right ACL while a fracture to Stephenson’s left ankle was revealed.
Luke faces the remainder of the season on the sidelines after going down with the knee injury immediately after the opening bounce in Sunday’s loss to St Kilda.
Stephenson will undergo surgery on Tuesday with her timeline to return to be determined post-surgery.
The 27-year-old’s ankle was caught under a tackle not long after Luke went down in the first quarter of the game.
Hawthorn General Manager - Operations & AFLW Josh Vanderloo said the scans were an unfortunate result for both players.
“Unfortunately, scans have confirmed the worst for two of our spirited leaders in Lou and Tam,” Vanderloo said.
“The club will do all it can to support them through their rehabilitation.”
