Season summary:
Wingard was on track to produce his best goal tally in the brown and gold in season 2022 before his year was struck down by injury.
Still, his average of 1.7 majors from his 10 outings was his best as a Hawk since joining the club four years ago.
The 29-year-old managed to hit the scoreboard in every game he played, which highlighted his consistency as a small forward.
Despite a career-low in games played in a season, Wingard did celebrate a special milestone in Round 9 when he took to the field for the 200th time.
Best AFL game:
Wingard willed the Hawks over the line against the Brisbane Lions in Round 10. He provided a major spark in attack, finishing with three goals and four inside 50s from his 11 touches in the narrow 5-point win down in Launceston.
How the coaches saw him:
“Due to an interrupted pre-season, Chad was never able to fully hit his straps and showcase his full football capacity. While he still showed flashes of brilliance, his impact was lessened by his body's inability to get back to full health and his year was ended prematurely. Having done a good rehab block and nearing full health now, Chad should have no restrictions over the break and will hopefully be able to have a great summer to set him up for a good year after that.” – David Hale
