Hawthorn Football Club has teamed up with Tasmania’s Road Safety Advisory Council (RSAC) in a new partnership geared towards the state’s youngest prospective drivers.

The Hawks and RSAC will join forces to promote safe driving behaviours among Tasmanian school-aged children, as they approach their first license and turn the key on their driving journey.

The central piece of the partnership sees the Road Safety Advisory Council become the naming rights sponsor of the coveted Tassie Hawks Cup.

The two-day gala event, which has been held annually since 2008, attracts some of the state’s brightest young footballing talent, as Tasmania’s top year 9 and 10 school students battle it out to take home the famous cup.

Through the newly named RSAC Tassie Hawks Cup, dedicated road safety content will be delivered during the event, at UTAS Stadium and across Hawthorn’s various platforms, in a targeted effort to engage with school children across Tasmania.

Hawthorn CEO Justin Reeves said the club was incredibly proud to partner with such an important cause in Tasmania.

“By working closely with Tasmania’s Road Safety Advisory Council, this partnership has the serious potential to save lives right across the state’s roads,” Reeves said.

“We have long supported Tasmania since the club first played here more than two decades ago, and this collaboration is another example of our ongoing commitment to the state.

“We cannot wait to follow another RSAC Tassie Hawks Cup, where along with the highly-anticipated on-field action, we can help shape safe driving habits that will last a lifetime.”
